BirdSO Satellite

The BirdSO Satellite Invitational for Divisions B and C will run from February 10–17, 2024.

Format

The Satellite tournament will be run in the Satellite SO format, described in the Rules Manual. Students must compete at their schools under the supervision of their coaches. In addition, our tournament is asynchronous; teams can participate in any of the events at any given 50-minute interval during the duration of the competition (February 10-17, 2024). Teams from the same school are encouraged to take tests at the same time to ensure academic integrity.

Events

The event slate for the Satellite Tournament will be announced at a later date.

Policies

All competitors are expected to follow Science Olympiad rules (both event-specific and General Rules), our Academic Honesty Policy, and the additional general policies included below.

• All notesheets, for events that allow 8.5 by 11 inch sheet(s) of paper, must be printed out. For these events as well as events that do not allow any external resources, event supervisors will keep track of "time out of browser."
• Satellite Only: For events that allow a binder, binders must be printed out.
• Satellite Only: Participants may use any method of communication such as video call, voice chat, the built-in Scilympiad chat. Partners are allowed to communicate in-person with their partner(s) while participating in events.
• All test events are 50 minutes long.
• No-shows will result in [N + 1] points. Disqualifications as a result of cheating will result in [N + 2] points.
• Events will follow national-level rules if applicable.
• All video submissions and practice logs will be properly disposed of two weeks (14 days) after competition. No build videos will be saved.
